Last night (Dec. 30) on ABC World News Tonight, bloggers were named People of the Year. (They are naming a Person/People of the Year each night this week.) The piece was a standard fare wrap up of important blogging events of 2004, although they notably failed to mention Rathergate. The bloggers at Powerline who started Rathergate were featured in the POY issue of Time Magazine.
The piece closed with Elizabeth Vargas saying: “Rumor has it that Time Magazine also considered naming bloggers instead of President Bush as it’s Person of the Year. But bloggers were undettered creating their own mock magazine cover.” Fade video to the fake cover of Time Magazine we created (right).
Actually, we created that cover in order to campaign for Time magazine to choose bloggers. All in all, it was cool that they put the cover on Primetime news.
P.S. To ABC News: It would be nice to get an onscreen credit next time.
